![]() ![]() NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which is managed for the agency by Caltech in Pasadena, California, built and manages operations of the Perseverance rover. The Mars 2020 Perseverance mission is part of NASA’s Moon to Mars exploration approach, which includes Artemis missions to the Moon that will help prepare for human exploration of the Red Planet. After landing, the rover relayed back data and images using NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. 10, 2023 Morgan Montalvo, another JPL engineer, sets guardrails on the floor below the prototype in a test of a scenario where the lander would stub a toe against a rock while touching down on Mars. Dust on its solar panels caused the lander to lose power in December of that year, but data recorded by InSight’s instruments is still leading to new science. The rover and its attached helicopter, called Ingenuity, landed on Mars Thursday, February 18. This video features Images of the Week from throughout 2022, giving a glimpse of Perseverance’s ongoing exploration of Jezero Crater on Mars – from finishing up its crater floor campaign, to arriving at the ancient river delta, to laying down its first sample tube for potential pickup by the Mars Sample Return mission. NASA’s InSight lander captured this selfie on April 24, 2022, the 1,211th Martian day, or sol, of the mission. The team of NASA scientists working on Perseverance rover's mission on Mars reveals new images taken by the rover shortly after landing on. Members of the public can vote on their favorite images, and each week a new " Image of the Week " is selected. After each communication downlink, images go directly to the Perseverance Raw Images page: go./perseverance-raw-images. Since landing in February 2021, NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover has sent back hundreds of thousands of images of the Red Planet. ![]()
